It is narrated from Sayyiduna Abdullah bin Abbas (may Allah be pleased with them both) that the Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings be upon him) said: "There is no man on the face of the earth who dies while there is in his heart arrogance equal to the weight of a mustard seed, except that Allah Almighty will cast him into the Fire of Hell." When Sayyiduna Abdullah bin Qays al-Ansari (may Allah be pleased with him) heard this warning, he began to weep bitterly. Upon this, the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) asked: "O Abdullah bin Qays, why are you weeping?" He said: "Out of fear of this saying of yours (peace and blessings be upon him)." So the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) said (consoling him): "Rejoice, for indeed you are among the people of Paradise." The narrator relates: Then the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) sent out an army in which he took part, and in that campaign he attained martyrdom.
The rest of this hadith has already preceded in the Book of Manners, in the section on the condemnation of arrogance.
