حَدَّثَنَا مُحَمَّدُ بْنُ عَبَّادٍ ، ثَنَا حَاتِمُ بْنُ إِسْمَاعِيلَ ، عَنْ مُعَاوِيَةَ - يَعْنِي ابْنَ أَبِي مُزَرِّدٍ - ، عَنْ عَبْدِ اللهِ ابْنِ أَبِي طَلْحَةَ ، عَنْ أَبِيهِ ، عَنْ أَبِي طَلْحَةَ - رَضِيَ اللهُ عَنْهُ - ، قَالَ : دَخَلْتُ الْمَسْجِدَ ، فَعَرَفْتُ فِي وَجْهِ رَسُولِ اللهِ صَلَّى اللهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ الْجُوعَ ، فَخَرَجْتُ حَتَّى أَتَيْتُ أُمَّ سُلَيْمٍ - رَضِيَ اللهُ عَنْهَا - وَهِيَ أُمُّ أَنَسِ بْنِ مَالِكٍ - رَضِيَ اللهُ عَنْهُ - ، كَانَتْ تَحْتَ مَالِكٍ أَبِي أَنَسٍ - فَقُلْتُ : يَا أُمَّ سُلَيْمٍ إِنِّي عَرَفْتُ فِي وَجْهِ رَسُولِ اللهِ صَلَّى اللهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ الْجُوعَ ، فَهَلْ عِنْدَكِ مِنْ شَيْءٍ ؟ فَقَالَتْ : عِنْدِي شَيْءٌ وَأَشَارَتْ بِكَفِّهَا ، فَقَالَ لَهَا : اصْنَعِي وَانْعَمِي ، فَأَرْسَلْتُ أَنَسًا - رَضِيَ اللهُ عَنْهُ - إِلَى رَسُولِ اللهِ صَلَّى اللهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ ، فَقُلْتُ : سَارِّهِ فِي أُذُنِهِ ، وَادْعُهُ فَلَمَّا أَقْبَلَ أَنَسٌ - رَضِيَ اللهُ عَنْهُ - قَالَ رَسُولُ اللهِ صَلَّى اللهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ : أَرْسَلَكَ أَبُوكَ يَدْعُونَا يَا بُنَيَّ ؟ قَالَ : نَعَمْ ، فَقَالَ صَلَّى اللهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ لِأَصْحَابِهِ - رَضِيَ اللهُ عَنْهُمُ - : اذْهَبُوا بِاسْمِ اللهِ ، قَالَ : فَأَدْبَرَ أَنَسٌ - رَضِيَ اللهُ عَنْهُ - يَشْتَدُّ حَتَّى أَتَى أَبَا طَلْحَةَ - رَضِيَ اللهُ عَنْهُ - ، فَقَالَ : هَذَا رَسُولُ اللهِ صَلَّى اللهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ قَدْ أَتَاكَ فِي النَّاسِ ، قَالَ - رَضِيَ اللهُ عَنْهُ - : فَخَرَجْتُ أَنَا وَهُوَ حَتَّى لَقِينَا رَسُولَ اللهِ صَلَّى اللهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ عِنْدَ الْبَابِ عَلَى مُسْتَرَاحِ الدَّرَجَةِ ، فَقُلْتُ : يَا رَسُولَ اللهِ ، مَاذَا صَنَعْتَ بِنَا ؟ إِنَّمَا عَرَفْتُ فِي وَجْهِكَ الْجُوعَ ، فَصَنَعْنَا لَكَ شَيْئًا تَأْكُلُهُ ، قَالَ صَلَّى اللهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ : ادْخُلْ ، وَأَبْشِرْ ، قَالَ : فَأَخَذَهَا رَسُولُ اللهِ صَلَّى اللهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ ، فَجَمَعَهَا فِي الصَّحْفَةِ بِيَدِهِ ، ثُمَّ أَصْلَحَهَا ، فَقَالَ صَلَّى اللهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ : هَلْ مِنْ ؟ كَأَنَّهُ يَعْنِي الْأُدْمَ ، قَالَ : فَأَتَوْهُ صَلَّى اللهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ بِعُكَّةٍ فِيهَا شَيْءٌ - أَوْ لَيْسَ فِيهَا شَيْءٌ - فَقَالَ بِهَا رَسُولُ اللهِ صَلَّى اللهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ بِيَدِهِ ، فَأَسْلَتَ مِنْهَا السَّمْنَ ، ثُمَّ قَالَ صَلَّى اللهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ : أَدْخِلْ عَلَيَّ عَشَرَةً عَشَرَةً ، فَأَكَلُوا كُلُّهُمْ وَشَبِعُوا ، فَقَالَ رَسُولُ اللهِ صَلَّى اللهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ لِلْفَضْلِ الَّذِي فَضَلَ : كُلُوا أَنْتُمْ وَعِيَالُكُمْ فَأَكَلُوا وَشَبِعُوا .
وَهُوَ فِي الصَّحِيحِ مِنْ حَدِيثِ أَنَسٍ .

It is narrated from Sayyiduna Abu Talhah (may Allah be pleased with him) that I entered the mosque and recognised signs of hunger on the radiant face of the Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings be upon him). So I left and came to (my wife) Umm Sulaym (may Allah be pleased with her). I said: "O Umm Sulaym! I sensed severe hunger on the blessed face of the Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings be upon him); do you have anything to eat?" She said: "Yes, I have something," and indicated its small quantity with a gesture of her palm. Then he (Abu Talhah) said to her: "Prepare it and make it really good." Then I sent Anas (may Allah be pleased with him) to the Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings be upon him) and instructed him: "Whisper in his (peace and blessings be upon him) ear and invite him to the meal." When Anas (may Allah be pleased with him) arrived, the Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings be upon him) (on seeing him) asked: "O my dear son! Has your father sent you to invite us?" He said: "Yes." So he (peace and blessings be upon him) said to his Companions (may Allah be pleased with them): 'Bismillah' (Come along with the name of Allah). Anas (may Allah be pleased with him) turned back running quickly until he reached Abu Talhah (may Allah be pleased with him) and told him: "Look, the Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings be upon him) is coming to you with a great many people." Abu Talhah (may Allah be pleased with him) said: Anas and I both went out until we met the Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings be upon him) near the door, by the steps. I said: "O Messenger of Allah! What have you done to us? I only saw the signs of hunger on your radiant face and prepared something just for you." He (peace and blessings be upon him) said: "Go in, and receive glad tidings." Then the Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings be upon him) took that food, gathered it together in the bowl with his blessed hand and arranged it. Then he (peace and blessings be upon him) asked: "Is there any condiment or the like?" So the people brought a small skin container with a little ghee in it. The Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings be upon him) pressed it with his blessed hand and squeezed the ghee out of it. Then he (peace and blessings be upon him) said: "Now bring the men in to me ten at a time." So they all ate and were satisfied. Then the Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings be upon him) said about the leftover food: "Now you yourselves and your families eat too." So they all ate as well and were fully satisfied.
