It is narrated from Sayyiduna Abu Hurayrah (may Allah be pleased with him) and Sayyiduna Ibn Abbas (may Allah be pleased with them both) that they both said: The Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings be upon him) delivered a very long sermon to us, in which this was also mentioned: "Whoever refuses his neighbour items of common use (ma'un) when he needs them, Allah Almighty will deprive him of His grace and favour on the Day of Resurrection and will leave him to his own self; and whomever Allah leaves to his own self is ruined in his final outcome, and no excuse of his will be accepted."
The chain of this hadith includes liars such as Dawud bin al-Muhabbar and Maysarah bin Abd Rabbih; therefore this report is severely weak and fabricated. Imam Ibn al-Jawzi and other imams of narrator criticism have counted it among the fabricated reports.
