It is narrated from Abu Nasr al-Asadi that Sayyiduna Abdullah bin Abbas (may Allah be pleased with them both) was asked: How did the Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings be upon him) test the women (who came as emigrants)? He replied: Whenever a woman came to him (peace and blessings be upon him) to accept Islam, he (peace and blessings be upon him) would make her swear by Allah with these words: "By Allah, you have not come out (of your home) out of any hatred or enmity towards your husband; and by Allah, you have not come out seeking some worldly benefit; and by Allah, you have not come out out of desire to leave one land (region) for another; and by Allah, you have come out only out of love for Allah Almighty and His Messenger (peace and blessings be upon him)."
[Takhrij: This report is found in Musnad al-Harith: 3754; however, its chain contains Qays bin al-Rabi', who is da'if (weak) because of his memory, though its meaning is supported by other reports.]
