Al-Matalib al-'Aliyah 3672 — Surah al-Nur

It is narrated from Sayyidah Aishah (may Allah be pleased with her) that she said: Umm Mistah al-Ansariyyah (may Allah be pleased with her) and I went out for some need of ours, and (on the way) Umm Mistah stumbled and fell, whereupon she said (cursing her son): "Ta'isa Mistah" (May Mistah perish!) I said: "What an evil thing you have said about a man who has had the honour of the companionship of the Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings be upon him)." Then, when (from the heavens) my innocence and chastity were revealed, the Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings be upon him) said (giving glad tidings): "O Aishah! Receive glad tidings (that Allah has declared your chastity)." At this my father and my mother (may Allah be pleased with them both) came toward me and kissed me, but I pushed them back by their chests and said: "I am grateful neither to you two nor to this companion of yours (the Prophet, peace and blessings be upon him); I praise only Allah, the Mighty and Majestic, who accepted my excuse and declared me innocent (of the slander), whereas your thinking had gone astray, because you did not think well (of your own people, as you ought to have thought of yourselves)."
Al-Harith narrated this hadith in Musnad al-Harith (Bughyat al-Bahith: 3672).
