وَقَالَ أَبُو بَكْرٍ : حَدَّثَنَا زَيْدُ بْنُ الْحُبَابِ ، ثَنَا الْحُسَيْنُ بْنُ وَاقِدٍ ، عَنْ أَبِي غَالِبٍ ، عَنْ أَبِي أُمَامَةَ رَضِيَ اللهُ عَنْهُ ، قَالَ : قَالَ رَسُولُ اللهِ صَلَّى اللهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ : " الْبُصَاقُ فِي الْمَسْجِدِ سَيِّئَةٌ ، وَدَفْنُهَا حَسَنَةٌ " .
It is narrated from Sayyiduna Abu Umamah (may Allah be pleased with him) that the Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings be upon him) said: "Spitting inside the mosque is a sin and an evil deed, and burying it (in the earth and the like) is a good deed and an act of reward."
The chain of this hadith is hasan (good); Imam Abu Bakr bin Abi Shaybah narrated it in his work, and sahih hadith of this meaning are also found in other books of Sunan, which stress the etiquette, respect and cleanliness of the mosque.
