وَقَالَ مُسَدَّدٌ : حَدَّثَنَا حَمَّادٌ ، عَنْ أَيُّوبَ ، عَنْ أَبِي رَجَاءٍ ، قَالَ : سَمِعْتُ ابْنَ عَبَّاسٍ رَضِيَ اللهُ عَنْهُمَا ، يَخْطُبُ فِي يَوْمٍ مَطِيرٍ ، فَقَالَ : ( صَلُّوا فِي رِحَالِكُمْ ، وَلَا تَنْقُلُوا هَذَا الْخَبَثَ بِأَقْدَامِكُمْ إِلَى الْمَسْجِدِ ، فَإِنَّهُ لَيْسَ كُلُّ جِيرَانِ الْمَسْجِدِ يَسَعُهُ طُهُورُكُمْ ) .
It is narrated from Sayyiduna Abdullah bin Abbas (may Allah be pleased with them both) that, while delivering a sermon on a rainy day, he said: "Offer the prayer in your homes and lodgings, and do not carry this filth and mud to the mosque on your feet, for it is not possible for all the neighbours of the mosque to have the strength or means to clean and purify this filth (stuck to your feet)."
This narration is sahih (authentic); Imam Musaddad narrated it, and its basic meaning is also established in the two Sahihs.
