It is narrated from Sayyiduna Abu Hurayrah (may Allah be pleased with him) that the Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings be upon him) said: "Recite the Noble Qur'an clearly and eloquently according to its inflections and rules, and seek out the meanings of its gharib, that is, its difficult and subtle words." In this narration the narrator Abu Mu'awiyah was in doubt whether it was heard from the father or from the grandfather.
Whereas Imam Ibn Abi Shaybah, in his narration, reported it through Abdullah bin Idris from Ibn al-Maqburi, from his grandfather, without any doubt.
