قَالَ مُسَدَّدٌ : حَدَّثَنَا يَحْيَى ، عَنْ سُفْيَانَ ، حَدَّثَنِي الْحَسَنُ بْنُ عَمْرٍو ، عَنْ فُضَيْلٍ ، عَنْ إِبْرَاهِيمَ ، وَهُوَ النَّخَعِيُّ ، قَالَ : " كَانُوا يَكْرَهُونَ أَنْ يُعَلِّمُوا أَوْلَادَهُمُ الْقُرْآنَ حَتَّى يَعْقِلُوا " .
It is narrated from Imam Ibrahim al-Nakha'i (may Allah have mercy on him) that he said: "They (the Companions and the senior Successors) disliked teaching the Qur'an to their children until they had reached maturity of mind and understanding."
