It is narrated from Sayyiduna Jabir bin Abdullah al-Ansari (may Allah be pleased with them both) that he said: "Allah Almighty revealed the Scrolls of Ibrahim (peace be upon him) on the first night of the blessed month of Ramadan; He revealed the Torah to Musa (peace be upon him) after six nights of Ramadan had passed; He revealed the Zabur to Dawud (peace be upon him) after twelve nights of Ramadan had passed; and the Furqan (the Noble Qur'an) was revealed to Muhammad (peace and blessings be upon him) after twenty-four nights of Ramadan had passed."
I (Ibn Hajar) say: This narration is maqlub (inverted, in respect of its chain); in reality it is narrated from Wathilah bin al-Asqa' (may Allah be pleased with him).
