It is narrated from Sayyiduna Jabir bin Abdullah (may Allah be pleased with them both) that the Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings be upon him) said: "Whoever recites a thousand verses (in the night prayer), Allah Almighty writes for him a qintar (a vast store of reward); a qintar equals a hundred ratl, a ratl is twelve uqiyah, an uqiyah is six dinars, a dinar is twenty-four qirat, and a qirat is like (the mountain of) Uhud (in greatness). And whoever recites three hundred verses, Allah Almighty addresses His angels and says: 'O My angels, I have put My servant to toil (for the sake of worship); I take you as witnesses, O My angels, that I have certainly forgiven him.' And whoever receives from Allah, the Mighty and Majestic, (news of) the virtue of a deed, and then acts upon it with faith and in hope of its reward, Allah Almighty will grant him that reward, even if it (the report of that virtue) is not so (in terms of authenticity)."
Its chain is da'if (weak); Abu Ya'la recorded it in his Musnad (3474), and its chain contains Bakr bin Yunus bin Bukayr, who is da'if (weak) according to the Imams. The hadith has supporting narrations (shawahid) regarding the virtue of the qintar and the recitation of the Qur'an, and the final sentence has supporting narrations in the hadiths of "Whoever receives from Allah (news of) a virtue".
