قَالَ إِسْحَاقُ : أَنَا النَّضْرُ بْنُ شُمَيْلٍ ، ثَنَا حَمَّادٌ هُوَ ابْنُ سَلَمَةَ ، أَنَا عَمْرُو بْنُ دِينَارٍ ، عَنْ يَحْيَى بْنِ جَعْدَةَ ، أَنَّ رَسُولَ اللهِ صَلَّى اللهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ قَالَ لِفَاطِمَةَ : " إِنَّهُ لَمْ يُعَمَّرْ نَبِيٌّ قَطُّ إِلَّا عُمِّرَ النَّبِيُّ صَلَّى اللهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ بَعْدَهُ نِصْفَ عُمُرِ صَاحِبِهِ ، وَعُمِّرَ عِيسَى أَرْبَعِينَ ، وَأَنَا عِشْرِينَ "
قُلْتُ : مَعْنَاهُ عُمِّرَ فِي النُّبُوَّةِ .
قُلْتُ : مَعْنَاهُ عُمِّرَ فِي النُّبُوَّةِ .
It is narrated from Yahya bin Ja'dah (may Allah have mercy on him) that the Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings be upon him) said to Sayyidah Fatimah (may Allah be pleased with her): "Indeed, it has never happened that a prophet was given a lifespan except that the prophet who came after him was given half the lifespan of his predecessor. Isa (peace be upon him) was given forty years (as his term), and I have been given twenty years (as my term)."
I (Ibn Hajar) say: Its meaning is that the years of the term of prophethood and messengership are intended here.
