Al-Matalib al-'Aliyah 3398 — Remembrance (dhikr) in the prayer

It is narrated from Sayyiduna Ali (may Allah be pleased with him) that he said: "Can none of you make the effort to perform four rak'ahs of prayer and say in them the words which the Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings be upon him) used to say: 'Tamma nuruka fa-hadayta fa-laka al-hamd, wa 'azuma hilmuka fa-'afawta fa-laka al-hamd, wa basatta yadaka fa-a'tayta fa-laka al-hamd, wajhuka a'zamu al-wujuh, wa jahuka a'zamu al-jah, wa 'atiyyatuka afdalu al-'atiyyati wa ahna'uha, tuta'u rabbana fa-tashkur, wa tu'sa rabbana fa-taghfir, wa tujibu al-mudtarr, wa takshifu al-ghamm, wa tashfi al-saqim, wa taghfiru al-dhanb, wa taqbalu al-tawbah, wa la yajzi bi-ala'ika ahad, wa la yablughu madhaka qawlu qa'il' (O Allah, Your light is perfect, through which You have granted guidance, so all praise is Yours; Your forbearance is immense, so You have pardoned, so all praise is Yours; and You have extended Your hand of generosity and given abundantly, so all thanks and praise are Yours. Your Being is greater in majesty than all beings, Your rank and standing are the highest of all, and Your gift is the most excellent and most delightful. O our Lord, when You are obeyed You show appreciation, and when You are disobeyed You forgive. You answer the call of the helpless and distressed, remove grief and sorrow, grant healing to the sick, forgive sin and accept repentance. No one can repay Your blessings, and the words of no praiser can fully encompass Your praise and attributes as is Your due)."
Musnad Abi Ya'la: 3417. In its chain al-Khalil bin Murrah al-Basri is a weak narrator, on account of which this narration is weak in its chain.
