It is narrated from Sayyiduna Umar bin al-Khattab (may Allah be pleased with him) that he said: "It has been told to me that supplication remains suspended between the heavens and the earth; no part of it rises upward (to the court of Allah) until blessings are sent upon the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him)."
Imam al-Tirmidhi recorded this hadith in his Sunan (no. 486) and Shaykh al-Albani declared it hasan (good); this narration is a mawquf (halted) saying of Sayyiduna Umar bin al-Khattab (may Allah be pleased with him).
