وَقَالَ أَحْمَدُ بْنُ مَنِيعٍ : حَدَّثَنَا عَلِيٌّ هُوَ ابْنُ عَاصِمٍ ثَنَا الْحُسَيْنُ بْنُ قَيْسٍ ، عَنْ عِكْرِمَةَ ، عَنِ ابْنِ عَبَّاسٍ رَضِيَ اللهُ عَنْهُمَا قَالَ : قَالَ رَسُولُ اللهِ صَلَّى اللهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ : " لَا يَنْبَغِي لِامْرِئٍ شَهِدَ مَقَامَ حَقٍّ إِلَّا تَكَلَّمَ بِهِ ، فَإِنَّهُ لَنْ يُقَدِّمَ أَجَلَهُ وَلَنْ يَحْرِمَ رِزْقًا هُوَ لَهُ " .
It is narrated from Sayyiduna Abdullah bin Abbas (may Allah be pleased with them both) that the Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings be upon him) said: "It is never fitting for any person who witnesses a situation or matter of truth not to state that truth openly, for speaking the truth can neither bring his appointed term of life (death) before its time nor deprive him of provision that has been decreed for him."
Musnad Ahmad bin Mani': 3304; its chain contains Husayn bin Qays (Abu Ali al-Rahabi), who is extremely weak, being matruk al-hadith (abandoned in hadith); however, witnesses for this meaning exist in other books of hadith.
