It is narrated from Sayyiduna Mu'awiyah bin Abi Sufyan (may Allah be pleased with him) that he said: "I went to visit my sister, Sayyidah Umm Habibah (may Allah be pleased with her), and I saw the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) performing prayer in just a single garment, the two ends of which he (peace and blessings be upon him) had crossed over in opposite directions (over his shoulders)."
Imam Abu Bakr narrated it with the chain of Isma'il bin Ayyash,
and Imam Abu Ya'la narrated it from Ishaq bin Yahya, from Isma'il bin Ayyash, with the same chain.
Ibrahim bin al-Husayn also transmitted a narration of the same meaning from Mubashshir bin Isma'il, al-Harith bin Atiyyah and Muhammad bin Kathir, all of them from Imam al-Awza'i, from him through Ya'ish bin al-Walid, from Sayyiduna Mu'awiyah (may Allah be pleased with him).
