وَقَالَ أَبُو يَعْلَى : حَدَّثَنَا سُرَيْجُ بْنُ يُونُسَ أَبُو الْحَارِثِ ، ثَنَا هُشَيْمٌ ، عَنْ عَبْدِ الْحَمِيدِ بْنِ جَعْفَرٍ ، عَنْ أَبِيهِ قَالَ : قَالَ خَالِدُ بْنُ الْوَلِيدِ رَضِيَ اللهُ عَنْهُ : اعْتَمَرْنَا مَعَ رَسُولِ اللهِ صَلَّى اللهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ فِي عُمْرَةٍ اعْتَمَرَهَا ، فَحَلَقَ شَعَرَهُ فَاسْتَبَقَ النَّاسُ إِلَى شَعَرِهِ ، فَاسْتَبَقْتُ إِلَى النَّاصِيَةِ فَأَخَذْتُهَا فَاتَّخَذْتُ قَلَنْسُوَةً ، فَجَعَلَهَا فِي مُقَدَّمِ قَلَنْسُوَتِهِ فَمَا وَجَّهَهَا فِي وَجْهٍ إِلَّا فُتِحَ لَهُ .
It is narrated from Sayyiduna Khalid bin al-Walid (may Allah be pleased with him) that he said: "We took part, along with the Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings be upon him), in one of the Umrahs he (peace and blessings be upon him) performed. When he (peace and blessings be upon him) had the hair of his blessed head shaved, the people began to race one another to obtain his (peace and blessings be upon him) blessed hair. I raced for the hair of the forelock and obtained it; then I took a cap and preserved that hair in its front part." Thereafter, towards whatever expedition or battle he turned, he was granted victory and success.
Imam Abu Ya'la recorded it; its narrator Abd al-Hamid bin Ja'far is saduq (truthful) and the remaining narrators are thiqat (trustworthy), and this report is also sahih and established on the basis of other supporting reports and corroborating chains.
