Muhammad bin Suqah narrates from his father that he said: I came to Sayyiduna Amr bin Hurayth (may Allah be pleased with him) to rent a dwelling in his house, and he said: "Rent it, for this house is blessed for its owner and is also a source of blessing for the one who lives in it." I asked: "Because of what is this blessing?" He said: "I came to the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) at a time when a camel had been slaughtered (nahr), and he (peace and blessings be upon him) had ordered that it be distributed. He (peace and blessings be upon him) said to the man distributing the meat: 'Give Amr a share of it as well.' But he gave me nothing and overlooked me. The next day I came to the Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings be upon him), and some dirhams were placed before him (peace and blessings be upon him). He (peace and blessings be upon him) asked: 'Did you receive the share I ordered for you?' I said: 'O Messenger of Allah, that man gave me nothing at all.'" The narrator says: Then the Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings be upon him) himself picked up some dirhams with his blessed hand and gave them to me. I took those dirhams to my mother and said: "These are dirhams that the Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings be upon him) held in his blessed hand and then granted to me. Keep them safe until we consider what to use them for." Then time went on until I bought this house, and my mother said: "When you want to pay its price, do not hand over the money until you call me, so that I may pray for blessing for you." So when I had completed preparations for paying the price, I called her, and she said to me: "Take these (blessed) dirhams and add them to this money." I added them to the total sum and mixed them in, and then she said: "Now take this money and pay the price."
Imam Abu Ya'la recorded this hadith in his Musnad; this report is a clear proof of seeking blessing (tabarruk) from the relics of the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) and of the firm conviction of the noble Companions in it.
