قَالَ أَبُو يَعْلَى : حَدَّثَنَا إِسْحَاقُ بْنُ أَبِي إِسْرَائِيلَ ، ثَنَا عَبْدُ اللهِ بْنُ الْمُبَارَكِ ، حَدَّثَنِي عِيسَى بْنُ سَبْرَةَ ، يُحَدِّثُ عَمَّنْ سَمِعَ أَنَسَ بْنَ مَالِكٍ رَضِيَ اللهُ عَنْهُ ، يَرْفَعُهُ قَالَ : " إِنَّ اللهَ عَزَّ وَجَلَّ يُعْطِي الدُّنْيَا عَلَى نِيَّةِ الْآخِرَةِ ، وَلَا يُعْطِي الْآخِرَةَ عَلَى نِيَّةِ الدُّنْيَا " .
It is narrated from Sayyiduna Anas bin Malik (may Allah be pleased with him) as a marfu' report that the Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings be upon him) said: "Indeed, Allah, the Mighty and Majestic, grants the blessings of this world as well (as a reward) for the intention of the Hereafter and a righteous resolve for it, but He never grants the fruits and rewards of the Hereafter for a mere desire and intention for this world."
The chain of this hadith contains an unnamed (mubham) narrator; Imam Abu Ya'la narrated it in his Musnad (hadith no. 3138).
