وَقَالَ أَحْمَدُ بْنُ مَنِيعٍ : حَدَّثَنَا هُشَيْمٌ ، ثَنَا يَعْلَى بْنُ عَطَاءٍ ، عَنْ يَحْيَى بْنِ [قَمْطَةَ ] ، قَالَ : رَأَيْتُ عَبْدَ اللهِ بْنَ [عَمْرٍو ] رَضِيَ اللهُ عَنْهُمَا فِي الْمَسْجِدِ الْحَرَامِ بِإِزَاءِ الْمِيزَابِ ، وَهُوَ يَقُولُ : إِنَّ اللهَ عَزَّ وَجَلَّ قَالَ لِنَبِيِّهِ صَلَّى اللهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ : فَلَنُوَلِّيَنَّكَ قِبْلَةً تَرْضَاهَا فَهَذِهِ الْقِبْلَةُ هَذِهِ الْقِبْلَةُ .
It is narrated from Yahya bin Qamtah that he saw Sayyiduna Abdullah bin Amr (may Allah be pleased with them both) in the Sacred Mosque (al-Masjid al-Haram), directly facing the Mizab (the waterspout of the Ka'bah), and he was saying: Allah, the Mighty and Majestic, said to His Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him): "So We will surely turn you to a qiblah with which you will be pleased" [Surah al-Baqarah: 144]. (Then, pointing towards the Ka'bah, he said:) "This is that qiblah, this is that qiblah."
Imam Ahmad bin Mani' narrated it in his Musnad, and the men of its chain are thiqat (trustworthy).
