حَدَّثَنَا إِبْرَاهِيمُ بْنُ الْحَجَّاجِ ، ثَنَا عَبْدُ الْوَاحِدِ بْنُ زِيَادٍ ، ثَنَا صَدَقَةُ بْنُ الْمُثَنَّى ، حَدَّثَنِي رِيَاحُ بْنُ الْحَارِثِ قَالَ : كُنَّا عِنْدَ الْمُغِيرَةِ بْنِ شُعْبَةَ رَضِيَ اللهُ عَنْهُ وَهُوَ فِي الْمَسْجِدِ وَعِنْدَهُ أَهْلُ الْكُوفَةِ ، فَجَاءَ سَعِيدُ بْنُ زَيْدٍ رَضِيَ اللهُ عَنْهُ فَأَوْسَعَ لَهُ الْمُغِيرَةُ رَضِيَ اللهُ عَنْهُ ، فَقَالَ : هُنَا فَاجْلِسْ ، فَأَجْلَسَهُ مَعَهُ عَلَى السَّرِيرِ ، فَقَالَ سَعِيدٌ رَضِيَ اللهُ عَنْهُ : سَمِعْتُ رَسُولَ اللهِ صَلَّى اللهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ يَقُولُ : " إِنَّ كَذِبًا عَلَيَّ لَيْسَ كَكَذِبٍ عَلَى أَحَدٍ ، مَنْ كَذَبَ عَلَيَّ مُتَعَمِّدًا فَلْيَتَبَوَّأْ مَقْعَدَهُ مِنَ النَّارِ " .
It is narrated from Riyah bin al-Harith that he said: We were with Sayyiduna al-Mughirah bin Shu'bah (may Allah be pleased with him) in the mosque, and a group of the people of Kufah were sitting with him. Meanwhile Sayyiduna Sa'id bin Zayd (may Allah be pleased with him) arrived, so Sayyiduna al-Mughirah (may Allah be pleased with him) made room for him and, honouring him, said: "Please sit here," and so he seated him beside himself on the couch (seat). On that occasion Sayyiduna Sa'id (may Allah be pleased with him) said: I heard the Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings be upon him) say: "Indeed, attributing a lie to me is not like attributing a lie to any ordinary person; so whoever deliberately tells a lie against me, let him take up his abode in the Fire of Hell."
