حَدَّثَنَا فُضَيْلٌ ، عَنِ الْأَعْمَشِ ، عَنْ طَلْحَةَ ، عَنْ أَبِي عَمَّارٍ ، عَنْ عَمْرِو بْنِ شُرَحْبِيلَ رَضِيَ اللهُ عَنْهُ قَالَ : قَالَ رَسُولُ اللهِ صَلَّى اللهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ : " مَنْ كَذَبَ عَلَيَّ مُتَعَمِّدًا لِيُضِلَّ بِهِ النَّاسَ ، فَلْيَتَبَوَّأْ مَقْعَدَهُ مِنَ النَّارِ " .
It is narrated from Amr bin Shurahbil (may Allah have mercy on him) that the Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings be upon him) said: "Whoever knowingly and deliberately attributes a lie to me in order to mislead people by it, let him take his seat in the Fire of Hell."
The chain of this report is sahih (authentic), and it falls within the category of the mutawatir hadith in which a severe warning is stated for one who lies against the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him).
