It is narrated from Sayyiduna Anas bin Malik (may Allah be pleased with him) that he said: Sayyiduna Abu Musa al-Ash'ari (may Allah be pleased with him) said to me: "Prepare my provisions for travel, for I will be departing on such-and-such a day." Sayyiduna Anas (may Allah be pleased with him) said: Then when that appointed day came, some of the preparation of his travel provisions still remained. He asked: "Have you finished the work?" I said: "Only a small amount of work remains." He said: "I am setting out (at my appointed time)." I said: "May Allah Almighty set the Amir right! If only you would stay until the preparation of the rest of your provisions is completed (it would be better)." He said: "Certainly not! I dislike that I should lie to my family and they (in turn) lie to me, that I should break my promise to them and they break their promises to me, and that I should betray them and they betray me."
Al-Harith bin Abi Usamah recorded it in his Musnad.
