قَالَ الْحَارِثُ : حَدَّثَنَا مُحَمَّدُ بْنُ عُمَرَ ، حَدَّثَنَا ابْنُ أَبِي سَبْرَةَ ، عَنْ عَبَّاسِ بْنِ عَبْدِ الرَّحْمَنِ الْأَشْجَعِيِّ ، عَنْ سَالِمٍ هُوَ ابْنُ عَبْدِ اللهِ بْنِ عُمَرَ ، عَنْ أَبِيهِ رَضِيَ اللهُ عَنْهُمْ قَالَ : قَالَ رَسُولُ اللهِ صَلَّى اللهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ : إِنَّ الْعَبْدَ لَيُسْأَلُ يَوْمَ الْقِيَامَةِ عَنْ فَضْلِ عَمَلِهِ ، كَمَا يُسْأَلُ عَنْ فَضْلِ مَالِهِ .
It is narrated from Sayyiduna Abdullah bin Umar (may Allah be pleased with them both) that the Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings be upon him) said: "On the Day of Resurrection the servant will be questioned about the surplus of his deeds (that is, the extra capacity and opportunities to do good deeds) just as he will be asked about the surplus of his wealth (that is, wealth and riches beyond his needs)."
Al-Harith bin Abi Usamah recorded this hadith in his Musnad (Bughyat al-Bahith: 1047); however, its chain contains Muhammad bin Umar al-Waqidi and Ibn Abi Sabrah, both of whom are weak narrators, on account of which this report is extremely weak in its chain.
