It is narrated from Sayyiduna Umar bin al-Khattab (may Allah be pleased with him) that he said: "What I fear and dread most for you is a person's being pleased with his own opinion and falling into self-conceit. Whoever says (out of arrogance and pride): 'I am a scholar', is in reality ignorant; and whoever claims: 'Indeed, I am of the people of Paradise', is (because of this conceit of the self) of the people of Hell."
This report is found in Musnad al-Harith (Bughyat al-Bahith); its chain contains Musa bin Ubaydah al-Rabadhi, a da'if (weak) narrator; however, its meaning is established by other authentic hadiths and reports that have come in condemnation of self-conceit and arrogance.
