حَدَّثَنَا مُحَمَّدُ بْنُ جَامِعٍ ، حَدَّثَنَا مُحَمَّدُ بْنُ عُثْمَانَ ، عَنْ سُلَيْمَانَ بْنِ دَاوُدَ ، عَنْ رَجَاءِ بْنِ حَيْوَةَ ، عَنْ عَبْدِ الرَّحْمَنِ بْنِ غَنْمٍ ، عَنْ عُمَرَ بْنِ الْخَطَّابِ رَضِيَ اللهُ عَنْهُ قَالَ : قَالَ رَسُولُ اللهِ صَلَّى اللهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ : لَا يَبْلُغُ عَبْدٌ صَرِيحَ الْإِيمَانِ ، حَتَّى يَدَعَ الْمِزَاحَ وَالْكَذِبَ ، وَيَدَعَ الْمِرَاءَ ، وَإِنْ كَانَ مُحِقًّا .
It is narrated from Sayyiduna Umar bin al-Khattab (may Allah be pleased with him) that the Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings be upon him) said: "A servant does not reach the true reality and essence of faith until he gives up joking and lying, and until he completely abandons arguing and quarrelling, even if he is in the right."
