وَقَالَ مُسَدَّدٌ : حَدَّثَنَا يَحْيَى ، عَنْ صَدَقَةَ بْنِ الْمُثَنَّى ، حَدَّثَنِي جَدِّي رِيَاحُ بْنُ الْحَارِثِ قَالَ : إِنَّ ابْنَ مَسْعُودٍ رَضِيَ اللهُ عَنْهُ كَانَ فِي الْمَسْجِدِ وَمَعَهُ نَاسٌ يُقْرِئُهُمْ ، فَدَعَا بِشَرَابٍ ، فَقَالَ : " أَمَا إِنَّ هَذَا الشَّرَابَ كَانَ فِي سِقَاءِ مَنِيحَةٍ لَنَا مَاتَتْ " .
It is narrated from Sayyiduna Abdullah bin Mas'ud (may Allah be pleased with him) that he was sitting in the mosque with some people around him whom he was teaching (the Noble Qur'an). Meanwhile he asked for something to drink and (to make its legal status clear) said: "Take note! This drink (water or beverage) was in a water-skin made from the hide of our milch animal, which had died."
