It is narrated from Sayyiduna Abu Hurayrah and Sayyiduna Ibn Abbas (may Allah be pleased with them) that the Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings be upon him) delivered a long sermon to us, in which there was also (this saying): "And whoever falsely claims (attributing it to himself) a dream that he did not actually see is like one who gave false testimony, and on the Day of Resurrection he will be charged with the arduous task of tying a knot between two grains of barley, and he will continue to be punished until he ties a knot between them, yet he will never be able to do so."
The chain of this report contains narrators such as Dawud bin al-Muhabbar and Maysarah bin Abd Rabbih, who are liars and fabricators, because of which this report is mawdu' (fabricated); however, the warning about tying a knot between two grains of barley is established in Sahih al-Bukhari (no. 7042) through other reliable and sahih chains.
