It is narrated from Sayyiduna Abu Sa'id al-Khudri (may Allah be pleased with him) that the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) said: "Children are the fruit of the heart, [but they are also] a cause of cowardice, a cause of miserliness and a source of grief."
Abu Bakr bin Abi Shaybah narrated it with his chain, and Abu Ya'la also recorded it in his Musnad with these same words through Abu Bakr bin Abi Shaybah.
