وَقَالَ أَبُو يَعْلَى : حَدَّثَنَا مُحَمَّدُ بْنُ عَبَّادٍ ، حَدَّثَنَا أَبُو سَعِيدٍ ، حَدَّثَنَا عَبْدُ اللهِ بْنُ الْحَارِثِ بْنِ أَبْزَى ، قَالَ : حَدَّثَتْنِي أُمِّي ، عَنْ أَبِيهَا : أَنَّهُ شَهِدَ مَغَانِمَ حُنَيْنٍ مَعَ رَسُولِ اللهِ صَلَّى اللهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ وَاسْمُهُ غُرَابٌ ، فَسَمَّاهُ رَسُولُ اللهِ مُسْلِمًا .
Abdullah bin al-Harith bin Abza narrates from his mother, and she from her father, that he was present with the Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings be upon him) at the distribution of the spoils of the Battle of Hunayn. His name was "Ghurab" (crow), so the Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings be upon him) changed his name to "Muslim".
