قَالَ أَبُو دَاوُدَ الطَّيَالِسِيُّ : حَدَّثَنَا أَبُو بَكْرٍ الْحَنَّاطُ ، حَدَّثَنِي يَحْيَى بْنُ هَانِئِ بْنِ عُرْوَةَ ، عَنْ أَبِي حُذَيْفَةَ ، عَنْ عَبْدِ الْمَلِكِ بْنِ عَلْقَمَةَ الثَّقَفِيِّ قَالَ " إِنَّ وَفْدَ ثَقِيفَ قَدِمُوا عَلَى رَسُولِ اللهِ صَلَّى اللهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ فَأَهْدَوْا إِلَيْهِ هَدِيَّةً ، فَسَأَلُوهُ وَمَا زَالُوا يَسْأَلُونَهُ حَتَّى مَا صَلَّوُا الظُّهْرَ إِلَّا مَعَ الْعَصْرِ " .
It is narrated from Sayyiduna Abd al-Malik bin Alqamah al-Thaqafi (may Allah be pleased with him): "The delegation of the tribe of Thaqif came to the Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings be upon him) and presented a gift to him. Then they began asking him about matters of knowledge and religion, and they kept on asking him questions until (because of the many questions and his full attention to them, they did not notice the time passing and) they offered the Zuhr prayer together with (at the time of) the Asr prayer."
