قَالَ مُسَدَّدٌ : حَدَّثَنِي بِشْرٌ ، عَنْ زَيْنَبَ ، قَالَتْ : " كَانَتْ عَائِشَةُ رَضِيَ اللهُ عَنْهَا تَتَّخِذُ دِيكًا لِوَقْتِ صَلَاتِهَا وَلِوَقْتِ سَحُورِهَا " .
Zaynab narrates: "The Mother of the Believers, Sayyidah Aishah (may Allah be pleased with her), used to keep a rooster to know the times of her prayers and the time of her suhur (pre-dawn meal)."
Imam al-Bukhari recorded this report in "al-Adab al-Mufrad" (hadith: 1206), and Allamah al-Albani (may Allah have mercy on him) declared its chain sahih (authentic).
