It is narrated from one of the Companions of the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) (may Allah be pleased with him) that the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) said: "Indeed, the believer who mixes with people and shows patience and steadfastness over the harms that reach him from them is far greater in reward than the believer who neither mixes with people nor is patient over the hurts that come from them."
Imam al-Harith and Imam Abu Bakr Ibn Abi Shaybah (may Allah have mercy on them both) each narrated something similar, as marfu' (attributed to the Prophet), with their own chains through Yahya bin Waththab from one of the Companions of the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him).
