Al-Matalib al-'Aliyah 2752 — The best of affairs is the middle course

It is narrated from Abd al-Samad bin Ma'qil that he heard Wahb bin Munabbih say: "Indeed, everything has two ends and a middle; so when one of the two ends is held, the other end tilts, but when it is held by the middle, right at the centre, both ends stay level and balanced." He also said: "It is incumbent upon you to adopt moderation and the middle way in all matters."
Imam Abu Ya'la recorded this saying in his Musnad, and its narrators are thiqat (trustworthy).
