حَدَّثَنَا مُحَمَّدُ بْنُ جَامِعٍ الْعَطَّارُ ، حَدَّثَنَا مُحَمَّدُ بْنُ عُثْمَانَ ، حَدَّثَنَا عَبْدُ السَّلَامِ بْنُ أَبِي الْجَنُوبِ ، عَنْ أَبِي سَلَمَةَ ، عَنْ أَبِي هُرَيْرَةَ رَضِيَ اللهُ عَنْهُ قَالَ : قَالَ رَسُولُ اللهِ صَلَّى اللهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ : حَقُّ الْجَارِ أَرْبَعُونَ ذِرَاعًا ، هَكَذَا ، وَهَكَذَا ، وَهَكَذَا ، وَهَكَذَا ، يَمِينًا ، وَشِمَالًا ، وَقُدَّامًا ، وَخَلْفًا .
It is narrated from Sayyiduna Abu Hurayrah (may Allah be pleased with him) that the Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings be upon him) said: "The right of the neighbour (that is, the extent of neighbourliness) is up to forty cubits, this way, this way, this way and this way; that is, in all four directions: right, left, front and back."
