وَقَالَ الْحَارِثُ : حَدَّثَنَا عَاصِمُ بْنُ عَلِيٍّ ، ثَنَا مُحَمَّدُ بْنُ رَاشِدٍ الْخُزَاعِيُّ ، عَنْ سُلَيْمَانَ بْنِ مُوسَى ، عَنْ عَطَاءٍ ، عَنْ جَابِرٍ رَضِيَ اللهُ عَنْهُ قَالَ : " كُنَّا نُصِيبُ مَعَ النَّبِيِّ صَلَّى اللهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ فِي مَغَانِمِنَا مِنَ الْمُشْرِكِينَ الْأَسْقِيَةَ وَالْأَوْعِيَةَ فَنَقْسِمُهَا كُلَّهَا مَيْتَةً " .
It is narrated from Sayyiduna Jabir (may Allah be pleased with him) that he said: "In the company of the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him), we used to find among the spoils of war taken from the polytheists water-skins and other leather vessels, and then we would divide all of them (among ourselves), even though all of them were carcass (that is, made from the hides of animals that had not been slaughtered)."
