It is narrated from Sayyiduna Abdullah bin Abbas (may Allah be pleased with them both) that a man came to the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) and asked how his morning had been. He (peace and blessings be upon him) said: "'Bi-khayrin min qawmin lam ya'udu maridan wa lam yashhadu janazah' (We are in a better state than people who have neither visited a sick person nor attended a funeral)."
Musnad Abi Ya'la: 2604. Its chain contains Habib bin Abi Thabit, who is a mudallis (one who conceals defects in the chain) and did not state explicitly that he heard it; however, the text of the hadith encourages good deeds and works of social welfare.
