قَالَ أَبُو يَعْلَى : حَدَّثَنَا دَاوُدُ بْنُ رُشَيْدٍ ، حَدَّثَنَا بَقِيَّةُ ، عَنْ مُعَاوِيَةَ هُوَ ابْنُ يَحْيَى ، عَنْ أَبِي الزِّنَادِ ، عَنِ الْأَعْرَجِ ، عَنْ أَبِي هُرَيْرَةَ رَضِيَ اللهُ عَنْهُ ، قَالَ : قَالَ رَسُولُ اللهِ صَلَّى اللهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ : " مَنْ حَدَّثَ حَدِيثًا فَعَطَسَ عِنْدَهُ فَهُوَ حَقٌّ " .
It is narrated from Sayyiduna Abu Hurayrah (may Allah be pleased with him) that the Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings be upon him) said: "Whoever narrates something and someone sneezes in his presence (that is, during that time), then that statement is true and correct."
The chain of this hadith is weak; its narrator Mu'awiyah bin Yahya al-Sadafi is weak according to the majority, and Baqiyyah bin al-Walid is a mudallis; Imam al-Albani (may Allah have mercy on him) declared it mawdu' (fabricated) in his book "Silsilat al-Ahadith al-Da'ifah", and Imam al-Nawawi and other researchers have also rejected its authenticity.
