It is narrated from Sayyiduna Abu Umamah bin Sahl bin Hunayf (may Allah be pleased with him) that: "The Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings be upon him) (with utmost humility and modesty) used to go personally to the poor and weak among the Muslims, visit their sick, and attend their funerals." Imam Ishaq (may Allah have mercy on him) says that through the chain of Sufyan bin Husayn, from Imam al-Zuhri, then from Abu Umamah, and then from his father (Sayyiduna Sahl bin Hunayf, may Allah be pleased with him), a similar report is also narrated from the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him).
I (Ibn Hajar) say: Imam Abu Ya'la and Imam al-Tabarani have mentioned this route of Sufyan bin Husayn as connected (mawsul) with their chains; although some weakness is found in Sufyan bin Husayn's memory when narrating from Imam al-Zuhri, the earlier narration of al-Walid bin Muslim from Imam al-Awza'i strengthens it, by which its chain becomes strong.
