It is narrated from Sayyiduna Abdullah bin Ja'far (may Allah be pleased with him): "The Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings be upon him), after being poisoned, had himself cupped on the upper part of his blessed head (that is, had hijamah done)."
Imam Ahmad bin Hanbal recorded this hadith in Musnad Ahmad. In its chain Jabir bin Yazid al-Ju'fi is a da'if (weak) narrator; however, that the Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings be upon him) had cupping done to remove the effect of poison is also established by other authentic hadith.
