It is narrated from Sayyiduna Ali (may Allah be pleased with him), and he narrates it only from the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him), that he (peace and blessings be upon him) said: "When the blood of any of you surges (that is, there is an excess of blood), let him shed it (by bloodletting or cupping), even if it be with the broad head of an arrow (mishqas)."
Imam Abu Ya'la al-Mawsili recorded this hadith in his Musnad, and in its chain Muhammad bin al-Qasim al-Asadi is a da'if (weak) narrator.
