وَقَالَ مُسَدَّدٌ : حَدَّثَنَا يَحْيَى ، عَنْ سُفْيَانَ ، حَدَّثَنِي ابْنُ أَبْجَرَ ، عَنْ سَيَّارٍ عَنْ قَيْسِ بْنِ أَبِي حَازِمٍ ، عَنْ جَرِيرٍ ، قَالَ : " عَزَمَ عُمَرُ رَضِيَ اللهُ عَنْهُ عَلَيَّ لَأَكْتَوِيَنَّ " .
It is narrated from Sayyiduna Jarir (may Allah be pleased with him) that he related: "Sayyiduna Umar bin al-Khattab (may Allah be pleased with him) expressed his firm resolve to me (that is, gave me an emphatic order) that I must certainly have myself cauterised (for treatment)."
The chain of this narration is sahih (authentic), and Imam Musaddad recorded it in his Musnad.
