قَالَ أَبُو يَعْلَى : حَدَّثَنَا شَيْبَانُ ، ثَنَا مَسْرُورُ بْنُ سَعِيدٍ التَّيْمِيُّ ، ثَنَا الْأَوْزَاعِيُّ ، عَنْ عُرْوَةَ بْنِ رُوَيْمٍ ، عَنْ عَلِيٍّ رَضِيَ اللهُ عَنْهُ قَالَ : قَالَ رَسُولُ اللهِ صَلَّى اللهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ : أَكْرِمُوا عَمَّتَكُمُ النَّخْلَةَ فَإِنَّهَا خُلِقَتْ مِنَ الطِّينِ الَّذِي خُلِقَ مِنْهُ آدَمُ ، وَلَيْسَ مِنَ الشَّجَرِ [شَيْءٌ] يُلَقَّحُ غَيْرُهَا ، وَقَالَ رَسُولُ اللهِ صَلَّى اللهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ : أَطْعِمُوا نِسَاءَكُمُ الْوُلَّدَ الرُّطَبَ فَإِنْ لَمْ يَكُنْ رُطَبٌ فَالتَّمْرُ ، وَلَيْسَ [شَيْءٌ] مِنَ الشَّجَرِ أَكْرَمَ عَلَى اللهِ مِنْ شَجَرَةٍ نَزَلَتْ تَحْتَهَا مَرْيَمُ بِنْتُ عِمْرَانَ .
It is narrated from Sayyiduna Ali (may Allah be pleased with him) that the Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings be upon him) said: "Honour your paternal aunt, the date palm, for it was created from the clay from which Adam (peace be upon him) was created, and there is no tree other than it that is pollinated (artificially, that is, by joining male and female)." And the Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings be upon him) also said: "Feed your women who have just given birth fresh ripe dates, and if fresh dates are not available, then dry dates; for there is no tree more honoured with Allah Almighty than the tree under which Maryam bint Imran (peace be upon her) stayed."
