قَالَ أَبُو يَعْلَى : حَدَّثَنَا حَفْصُ بْنُ عَبْدِ اللهِ أَبُو عُمَرَ الْحُلْوَانِيُّ ، ثَنَا دُرُسْتُ بْنُ زِيَادٍ ، عَنْ يَزِيدَ الرَّقَاشِيِّ ، عَنْ أَنَسٍ رَضِيَ اللهُ عَنْهُ قَالَ : كُنْتُ أَمْشِي مَعَ النَّبِيِّ صَلَّى اللهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ ، فَقَالَ : " يَا بُنَيَّ ، ادْعُ لِيَ مِنْ هَذِهِ الدَّارِ بِوَضُوءٍ " فَقُلْتُ : رَسُولُ اللهِ يَطْلُبُ وَضُوءًا ، فَقَالَ : أَخْبِرْهُ أَنَّ دَلْوَهُ جِلْدُ مَيْتَةٍ . قَالَ صَلَّى اللهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ : " سَلْهُمْ : هَلْ دَبَغُوهُ ؟ " قَالُوا : نَعَمْ ، قَالَ : " فَإِنَّ دِبَاغَهُ طُهُورُهُ " .
It is narrated from Sayyiduna Anas bin Malik (may Allah be pleased with him): I was walking with the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) when he (peace and blessings be upon him) said: "O my dear son, ask for water for ablution for me from this house." So I said (going to the people of the house): The Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings be upon him) is asking for water for ablution. At this he (the owner of the house) said: Inform him that his bucket is made of the hide of a dead animal. Then the Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings be upon him) said: "Ask them whether they have tanned it and so purified it?" They replied: Yes. So he (peace and blessings be upon him) said: "Indeed, its tanning is its purification."
