Al-Matalib al-'Aliyah 2379 — Prohibition of killing house snakes

It is narrated from Sayyiduna Abdullah bin Abbas (may Allah be pleased with them both) that he said: A man asked the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) about killing snakes, and he said: "Man and the snake were created alike (in natural hostility to one another): if a man sees it, it frightens him, and if the snake bites a man, it causes him severe pain. So kill them wherever you find them."
