Abu Ya'la says that Muhammad bin Abbad al-Makki narrated to us; Muhammad bin Sulayman bin Mas'mul narrated to him; al-Qasim bin Mukhawwal al-Bahzi al-Sulami narrated to him; he said: I heard my father, who had lived in both the Jahiliyyah and Islam, saying: "I set up my snares (for hunting) at al-Abwa'. A bird was caught in one of the snares, but it got free and escaped. I went out after it and found a man who had caught it. So the two of us quarrelled over it (the bird), and then we went to the Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings be upon him). We found him (peace and blessings be upon him) taking a midday rest under a tree at al-Abwa', resting in the shade of a leather mat (nit'). We put our case before him (peace and blessings be upon him), and he (peace and blessings be upon him) ruled that the bird be divided equally between the two of us."
