قَالَ الْحَارِثُ : حَدَّثَنَا دَاوُدُ بْنُ الْمُحَبَّرِ ، عَنْ مَيْسَرَةَ بْنِ عَبْدِ رَبِّهِ ، عَنْ أَبِي عَائِشَةَ السَّعْدِيِّ ، عَنْ يَزِيدَ بْنِ عُمَرَ ، عَنْ أَبِي سَلَمَةَ ، عَنْ أَبِي هُرَيْرَةَ وَابْنِ عَبَّاسٍ رَضِيَ اللهُ عَنْهُمَا قَالَا : خَطَبَنَا رَسُولُ اللهِ صَلَّى اللهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ فَذَكَرَ حَدِيثًا طَوِيلًا [جِدًّا] وَفِيهِ : وَمَنْ أَطْعَمَ طَعَامًا رِيَاءً وَسُمْعَةً أَطْعَمَهُ اللهُ تَعَالَى مِنْ صَدِيدِ جَهَنَّمَ ، وَكَانَ ذَلِكَ الطَّعَامُ نَارًا فِي بَطْنِهِ حَتَّى يُقْضَى بَيْنَ النَّاسِ .
It is narrated from Sayyiduna Abu Hurayrah and Sayyiduna Ibn Abbas (may Allah be pleased with them both) that the Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings be upon him) delivered a sermon to us and narrated a very long hadith in it. In this hadith it was also mentioned: "And whoever feeds someone food merely for show (riya') and for fame and renown (sum'ah), Allah Almighty will feed him from the pus of Hell (that is, the foul discharge of wounds), and that food (which he fed in the world) will remain fire in his belly on the Day of Resurrection until judgement is passed between the people."
