وَقَالَ أَبُو يَعْلَى : حَدَّثَنَا أَبُو كُرَيْبٍ ، ثَنَا يُونُسُ بْنُ بُكَيْرٍ ، عَنْ طَلْحَةَ بْنِ يَحْيَى ، عَنْ يَحْيَى ، وَعِيسَى ابْنَيْ طَلْحَةَ ، عَنْ أَبِيهِمَا ، قَالَ : مُرَّ عَلَى رَسُولِ اللهِ صَلَّى اللهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ بِبَعِيرٍ قَدْ وُسِمَ فِي وَجْهِهِ ، فَقَالَ : لَوْ أَنَّ أَهْلَ هَذَا الْبَعِيرِ عَزَلُوا النَّارَ عَنْ هَذِهِ الدَّابَّةِ . فَقَالَ : قُلْتُ : لَأَسِمَنَّ فِي أَبْعَدِ مَكَانٍ مِنْ وَجْهِهَا ، قَالَ : فَوَسَمْتُ فِي عَجْبِ الذَّنَبِ .
Abu Ya'la (may Allah have mercy on him) said: It is narrated from Sayyiduna Talhah bin Ubaydullah (may Allah be pleased with him) that a camel that had been branded on its face was brought past the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him), so he (peace and blessings be upon him) said: "If only the owners of this camel had kept the fire (of branding its face) away from this animal." (Talhah bin Ubaydullah, may Allah be pleased with him) said: I said (to myself): I will certainly brand (my animals in future) at the place farthest from the face. So I branded (my animal) at the root of the tail.
