قَالَ الْحَارِثُ : حَدَّثَنَا عَبْدُ الْعَزِيزِ بْنُ أَبَانَ ، عَنْ هِشَامٍ ، عَنْ يَحْيَى بْنِ أَبِي كَثِيرٍ ، عَنْ خَالِدٍ ، عَنْ أَبِي أُمَامَةَ رَضِيَ اللهُ عَنْهُ قَالَ : نَهَى رَسُولُ اللهِ صَلَّى اللهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ [أَنْ يُحَلَّى السَّيْفُ بِالْفِضَّةِ . قَالَ خَالِدٌ رَضِيَ اللهُ عَنْهُ : أَنْتَ سَمِعْتَ هَذَا مِنْ رَسُولِ اللهِ صَلَّى اللهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ] ؟ قَالَ : سَمِعْتُهُ مِمَّنْ لَمْ يَكْذِبْ أَوْ يَكْذِبْنِي .
2281 \ 2 - وَقَالَ أَحْمَدُ بْنُ مَنِيعٍ : حَدَّثَنَا مُحَمَّدُ بْنُ يَزِيدَ الْوَاسِطِيُّ ، قَالَ : ثَنَا هِشَامٌ الدَّسْتُوَائِيُّ بِهِ ، وَلَمْ يَذْكُرْ خَالِدًا فِي الْإِسْنَادِ ، وَقَالَ : أَنْ تُحَلَّى السُّيُوفُ .
2281 \ 2 - وَقَالَ أَحْمَدُ بْنُ مَنِيعٍ : حَدَّثَنَا مُحَمَّدُ بْنُ يَزِيدَ الْوَاسِطِيُّ ، قَالَ : ثَنَا هِشَامٌ الدَّسْتُوَائِيُّ بِهِ ، وَلَمْ يَذْكُرْ خَالِدًا فِي الْإِسْنَادِ ، وَقَالَ : أَنْ تُحَلَّى السُّيُوفُ .
It is narrated from Sayyiduna Abu Umamah (may Allah be pleased with him) that the Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings be upon him) forbade "decorating a sword with silver." Khalid asked (Abu Umamah): "Did you hear this yourself from the Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings be upon him)?" He replied: "I heard it from one who did not lie, or (from one) who did not lie to me."
Ahmad bin Mani' said: Muhammad bin Yazid al-Wasiti narrated to us; he said: Hisham al-Dastuwa'i narrated to us with the same (text and chain), except that he did not mention Khalid in the chain, and he used the wording "decorating swords" (that is, with the plural form al-suyuf).
