وَقَالَ أَبُو بَكْرٍ : حَدَّثَنَا عُبَيْدُ اللهِ بْنُ مُوسَى ، عَنْ مُوسَى بْنِ عُبَيْدَةَ ، عَنْ إِيَاسِ بْنِ سَلَمَةَ ، عَنْ أَبِيهِ ، قَالَ : إِنَّ عُثْمَانَ رَضِيَ اللهُ عَنْهُ ، كَانَ إِزَارُهُ إِلَى نِصْفِ سَاقَيْهِ ، فَقِيلَ لَهُ فِي ذَلِكَ ، فَقَالَ : هَكَذَا أَزْرَةُ صَاحِبِنَا - يَعْنِي النَّبِيَّ صَلَّى اللهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ - " .
It is narrated from Sayyiduna Salamah (may Allah be pleased with him) that the lower garment of Sayyiduna Uthman (may Allah be pleased with him) used to reach halfway down his shins. He (may Allah be pleased with him) was asked about this, and he (may Allah be pleased with him) said: "This is how the lower garment of our companion (i.e. the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him)) used to be."
